  • Your question isn't very clear... Stains on what? His paws?
  • Bitter Apple...it's a product you can buy at many pet stores. Dog's hate the taste of this stuff (except for the rare weirdo that likes it). It's actually funny to watch them shake their heads after they get a taste of it. You can use it multiple ways: Spray it on anything you don't want them to lick or bite. The awful taste will keep them from licking/biting the item in question. Negative reinforcement - when they do something wrong, spray it directly in their mouth as a training tool. It's not physically harmful, and it gives them a sense that what they just did was bad. So, you can either spray it on his paws directly, or you can spray it in his mouth when you see him licking his paws. As for removing stains, there are many products on the market to help with that too. IMO Resolve works best on carpets, and for furniture it depends on the type that you have.
  • there is a shampoo which will help with the brown stains i think it is called bright eyes, you can buy it from pets at home its not too expensive (its for brown stains around the eyes but my westie gets brown stains on her chin and i use it there) it dosent get rid of the stains compleatly but we only use it once a month and it makes them alot lighter, you could try using it weekly on the paws and see if it helps. next time he licks his paws try giving him a chew toy to see if you can calm the habit abit.
  • Can you get to the bottom of his licking? It can be a neurotic habit....anxiety. You probably have talked to your vet and if he/she cannot suggest a cause, see if you can find an animal behaviourist. There is a reason for this. Find the reason and fix that.
  • You can stop it by taking away its reason to do so, lots and lots of westies suffer from allergies. It can be a manifestation of foodallergy or atopic dermatitis.
