As far as I know, 18 is the legal age for you to walk right out the front door.

At 18 you are a legal adult and can do as you wish, or is Nebraska different than the rest of the US?

There are a lot of questions on AB about this. To my knowledge, no law enforcement will go after any 18 year old who chooses to go live in a state where 18 is a legal age. Once you leave the state of Nebraska, and enter a state where the legal age is 18, you become legal. It's that simple. See this list: http://marriage.about.com/cs/teenmarriage/a/majority.htm

I know how you feel trust me. I met the love of my life and I know I'm young but I dont care. I'm 17 and really couldn't wait to be 18 and move out but then come to find out where I live ... Nebraska its 19. It blows. He lives in Wisconsin and I really just wanna run away with him and get married. what should I do also? One problem is he's 23. I know he can take care of me though. So trust me Im right there with ya.

You are considered a legal adult, you can do as you wish. Although to make rash decision without thinking it through can make life very difficult, more so than your current situation. There is obviously a rift between your mother and her husband, perhaps try finding common ground, which would buy you time and sanity while you plan your move with careful thought.

At 18 you are of age, a consenting adult. There is nothing legally your mom can do to keep you in the house.

It's possible the police would not really respond to a runaway complaint if you're that old.
My idea on a little manipulation is to act rebellous a lot, then lie that you're pregnant so they'll go into a rage and kick you out. You can later claim that it was a false alarm. It's always better to manipulate people to give you what you want rather than take it directly.

im in the same boat as you. i know that in Nebraska you can't move out until you turn 19. Im in California and i can't until i'm 18. i'm only 17. so i say just endure it right now. your boyfriend must make things a little more live able for you there. besides, what would you do if you moved out of your parents house and in with him and then something happens between the two of you? where would you go then? just hang in there and don't make any rash decisions. it will work out ok in the end.

Walk out and leave? You're 18 and of legal age, you can make your own decisions now.
Move out if you aren't happy.

you are free to go...at 18 you are considered an adult now, just not aloud to buy alchol yet...lol... so you have no real attachment to your parents house that will hold you down legally. you are free to do what you choose, just make sure what you choose is the right decision...good luck!

Each state has a different age of majority. It is 19 in Nebraska. Your parents are responsible for you until the age of 19. You cannot enter into a contract - such as a lease, car purchase agreement, cell phone contract, etc. - until you are 19.

Carefully consider financially if you can afford this. Try and make sure you leave on good terms with your mother. I just spent 15years trying to repair relationship with my mother, I left when I was 16. And saw her for first time in past 10 years. You can pick your friends but you can't pick your relatives. Think it through and try to leave on good terms.
