Picasso could actually paint life-like portraits. he was no whore
A trained chimp could most certainly not paint as well as Picasso.
Lots of people don't seem to know that Picasso was a child prodigy and an expert draughtsman. His style changed radically as he grew older - I imagine he got bored being nothing more than a camera. Would you be happy if you were doing the same thing aged 68 as you were aged 18, 28, 38, etc.?
Here is a link to the website of the Museu Picasso in Barcelona which, while in Spanish, has some images of his early work down the side (click for a larger view):

And here are a few of his earlier paintings - if you can find me a chimp who can paint like this, I'll happily apologise and delete this answer.

show me this trained chimp. Piccaso was a genius. Of that there is no question.

It amazes me since I loathe modern art in its various forms.
I wonder that the schoolteacher who first decided he was a genius was actually in need of serious psychiatric help.
I do not understand Cubism as an art form so should not make the comment because some fools have made these dreadful daubings worth many millions.
To me they are childish naive rubbish and I know many people that paint better.IMHO
Picasso looks something like Bruce Willis don't you think.

what would the chimp do with the millions?
wrong! i really didn't get him either until I went to Paris and visited his museum that helped me UNDERSTAND him & his art. Most people consider it ABSTRACT & isn't it a lot like life which is OPEN to one's own interpretation and viewpoint. Just because we don't understand it, doesn't mean it isn't real genius. What have you painted lately?
here ya go pass it on!

I guess that for many people an "Emperor's New Clothes" situation takes place when dealing with his work. They may find it ugly and of little worth....but....they think that if they say that they will be considered "ignorants" or "non-educated"....so, they go along with the "crowd" and find his paintings "absolutely wonderful"..
jealahzeusus,
tell me pablo wasn't on crack when he did these!
