Yes. Here they want to raise it from one adult to 23 kids, up to 1 adult to 18 kids. But i dont know if it will happen

It's just you. We need more students going to private schools...and for the good teachers to go there as well :) Govt schools are a poison.

There should be a a strict limit of one teacher per 30 students. However, I think a better method would just be to get competent teachers, for example let me explain how my 9th grade math class went. 9th grade math class-We sat in a long room, literally like a prison, no windows except for one in the ceiling (no view) and bare white walls. Teacher would drone on for 45 minutes, would not engage the students if they ask for help besides reexplaining the answer the same way he did before. in the last 5 minutes he would assign some homework that "wasn't graded for the answers, rather completion". Do you understand that last part? We didn't get graded on the actual homework, just if it was completed. This is the kind of teacher and teaching style we need to replace.

We'd be better off with a better, more planned out curriculum that teach necessities for life, not a bunch of crap nobody needs to know. I mean, no matter how impressive it is to do, what good is it to learn how to diagram a paragraph? Great bar trick, but hardly a necessary lesson for life. You can have a classroom of 1,000 kids in a classroom, and with a good teacher and lesson plan that's relevant for living and life, most would do well. Have 2 teachers for a classroom of nine and teach them the importance of learning how to read Roman numerals, they'd be bored and asleep by IX in the morning.

Yes, I do. And teachers also need to be paid more. At least part of the funds could be raised by firing at least half of the "administrators." My school had a vice principle whose sole job seemed to be to enforce all of the meaningless rules, like "don't walk on the grass." He was nowhere to be found if there was something serious going on, but God help you if you had sunflower seeds!

More teachers and more pay certainly, and bonus for teachers that excel and fires those who slack. That said, the school year should be year round with out the two months of summer break. Instead the schools should have 1 or 2 week breaks through out the year. Every time school starts, the teachers spend at least a month or 2 rehashing what was learned the last year. So already the students are behind by two months. Also we should disband the federal education dept., this should be conducted on a local level, because it is out neighborhood that knows best for our own students.

sure - not to mention education needs to be turned back over to the states and federal funding directed THERE instead of into the dept. of education. my son currently attends public preschool for special ed stuff. however, i made it clear to all of his teachers and therapists that he.will.be.homeschooled. they keep talking like 'oh hopefully that won't be necessary.' well, i'll always consider it necessary. public school is great for those who need it, but if there's a better alternative available - it should be sought.

yes, but more importantly, we need to change the way we teach.
-
And what makes them think they can teach all them kids when they r a mom or dad to just 2 or 3 kids.
-
we need more preachers for teachers to keep learning!
-
wehave 1 for 32 in high school in the regular classes and 1 for 20 for the special ed classes......with students behing as demotivated and as weak as they are, there should be no more than 1 for 20 in regular classes and 1 for 12 in the special classes

I think every single teacher in the country probably agrees with you.
