Why are there so many churches accepting homosexual relationships today, when the bible is clearly against it?

• I believe God, in truth, is a very nice deity. Though he is used as a excuse way to often for hate. It's a shame really. I think that maybe the reason he doesnt touch our lives the way he used to in the past, because of those who would use his name as a excuse to spread hate, chaos, and war.

• I will pray that you know Jesus as your personal Saviour and know what it means to be born again into the family of God if you have not been born again already. We must live by Jesus' teachings, but we can never live by His teachings if we do not know Him as our personal Saviour and have never been born again into God's family.   It reminds me of how right after 9/11 there was a slogan in my high school that said (and I am NOT joking) "We hate intolerant people!" It wasn't official, but a lot of students and teachers supported it, which I guess shows that humanity tends to be hypocritical, in faith and in other matters

• None of us deserve God's love. God loves us because He chooses to and He is a God of grace just as much as He is a God of holiness and justice. Grace is getting better than what you deserve. We each and every one deserve death in the lake of fire, but Christ Jesus, God come in the flesh in the Person of the Son, paid our debt for us with His own perfect blood on the cross of Calvary.

• I love all people because God loved me, and if He loved a vile sinner like me, then He surely loves everyone else. If I love God, then I will love everyone else, because He does. I love God, and I love everyone else. If I did not love homosexuals then I would not be warning them of God's judgement. I do not want people to go to Hell.

• I think there is a difference between loving a person and accepting their sin. First, define love. You love your children, but would you allow them to continue to do something wrong? Of course not. That would not be loving them. God corrects us and shows us our sins BECAUSE He loves us. We correct our children and teach them right from wrong BECAUSE we love them.
  As Christians, we should not be accepting of any sinful behavior. If we are, then we are not truly showing love.
  As for churches accepting homosexuality, that is actually not a testament of Christianity, but a testament of the liberalness of our society. Many of the churches in America have become very liberal and weak. I think it might have some to do with fear of losing congregates if the teach the whole truth and nothing but the truth...whether it be homosexuality, abortion, or men and women's roles in the home, in the church, or in society.

  Many Christians(such as myself) do not know how to read the original languages, such as Greek and Hebrew, so the Textus Receptus would be a bit hard to read. What matters is that God's Word is translated into other languages and preserved to all generations. Some of the eariler English translations(such as the Geneva Bible) are, if I am not mistaken, translated from some of the same texts(such as the Textus Receptus). I could be wrong on that though. This is something I am still researching. I would like to learn to read Greek myself and then find a copy of the Textus Receptus though. :)

• CJ_emp: Yes, ma'am, when I was referring to worldly music I meant contemporary music. When you say you have taken Hebrew classes, which mansucripts have you studied, ma'am?
  Miranda: I am not against women teaching things like children's Sunday School classes or anything like that, but preaching sermons is a different story. Here are some Scriptures references to look at: I Timothy 2:11-15, 3:2(a bishop must be the "husband" of one wife) and I Corinthians 14:34-35. These are not spoken by the mouth of Jesus, but they are still in the New Testament Scriptures of the inspired Word of God. And thank you for the compliament. I am used to getting downrated though.

• i don't think there's anything wrong with any of it concerning women, but i've got my own opinion i guess for my personal reasons.
  concerning timothy and corinthians, i believe that these men were neither prophets [in context of the term concerning john the baptist or moses or elias etc...] nor were they jesus christ [whether one believes he was God or not] so i don't necessarily accept their word as divine truth. however that doesn't take away from the morals that they gave to the followers.

• Saved: I won't concede on the "worldly music" topic (I'm a Creation Fest East FREAK!) but as for my Hebrew class: Genesis, Ruth, Eccel., Leviticus, Deuter., Jonah, Job, Judges, and a few other selected Scriptures (verses more than books)
  
  The translation was JPS; collaborated on by all experts in Hebrew (religious & secular alike) to form the second most accurate & modern translation. The newest translation (& hopefully truest to both language & content) involved a HUGE number of theologians & which supposedly is already coming out soon if it hasn't already...

I am personally against contemporary music, but I do not judge those that are for it as "not as close to God", so please do not feel like I am judging or condemning you on that, that is just my conviction and opinion about the music itself. Anyway, about the Hebrew, you have to be careful which manuscripts are being used, and do not fall for the "oldest is best" arguement about manuscripts(which teaches that the manuscripts that are still around from, say, 100+ B.C. are most accurate) because that is actually a flawed arguement. Many fall for it too.

• Whenever the Christian Church was very young(we're talking before Constantine), the God-fearing Christians would copy the Scriptures down to different scrolls, manuscripts, etc. and they would keep on copying the Word of God to give to other Christian Churches to use, because even at that time, there were many people corrupted God's holy Word, so they needed to preserve the Word of God perfectly and keep it from being corrupted. Well, after copying the manuscripts over and over, some of the first century copies and upward which were being copied would, well...start to get worn out and no longer usable. But, by then, that would not matter, because they already had them copied on to others. The old manuscripts that people are finding from around those times that still exist today are likely unreliable because if they have been around that long and were not worn out back then when Christians were copying the Word of God, then that means they were likely rejected by the Christians.

• It's happening more and more. In any of these cases, there is sometimes need for a change of the definition of what makes a person what they are, Christian or otherwise. It's pretty clear; in order for a person to be a Christian the way you put it, they'd have to believe and live by the whole Bible, but you know they can't, because a great deal of it goes against human morality. There has to be a revision of some kind.

  If a homeless group of people came in stinking off the street giving their blessings to everyone, would the church let them in? yet that is just what Jesus was. The Bible is over 2000 years old, (new testament a little less) written by man supposedly inspired by God. Men lie. Times change. The message, (not the exact word necessarily) does not change. Love God and Love thy neighbor. With love comes acceptance and a willingness to let God be the judge.

• Jesus was the same God in the Old Testament(Jehovah) as He is in the New Testament. Some churches would, if they honor the Lord Jesus Christ, and some of them are hypocritical and unChrist-like. God's Word is promised to be preserved to all generations, so we still have it today, not just the messege of it.

I am a hell-deserving sinner saved by the grace of God and redeemed by the blood of the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and you have every right to your belief and I respect that right, but I still believe homosexuality is sinful because the Bible condemns homosexual behaviour. You have every right to disagree, and I am fine with that, but I will not change the way I believe about homosexual behaviour.

• Yes, but that still does not make it Biblically right to do so. I do not mind a homosexual coming to church at all, in fact, I want them to so they can be put under the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and hopefully receive Him as their Lord and Saviour. We that are Christians should accept homosexuals as people and as souls Christ died for, but not homosexuality itself.

  Continue reading in this chapter...we are all sinners. God calls us to repent...which means turn away from our sin...and we will be forgiven. REPENT and we will be forgiven. Does not mean ignore or accept the sin...turn away from the sin.
