  • Sort of. The larger military submarines are sufficiently powerful that it is more like they catch the trawler. Fishing vessels have taken significant damage from these encounters. A weak net will just break, but the big, strong commercial nets can cause the trawler to be dragged for some distance through the ocean before something gives. I have heard testimony on this from someone with personal experience in submarines, but I don't have an objective reference or document to cite. I don't doubt smaller subs have been caught in nets, but I don't have any references on that.
