Tribecca has a good program but as with most schools the best thing they can provide is the network of people once school is over.

If you are passionate about it, go out, get a rig and start shooting shooting shooting and editing editing editing. Learn how to scuplt "time".

Conversly, if you are just out to make hollywood fluff pieces, then go out to Cali. Any number of schools will get you the chops you need and dont forget to kiss a lot of butt. On either side of the coin whether you are selling fluff or art you still need to network.

If you need any suggestions on film books let me know and Id be glad to share some titles.

    Good Luck to you.

I went to New York Film Academy in Hollywood and I thought it was great. I only did a 14 week course but still I had a great time. They let us shoot on some of the Universal Backlots.

While filmschool will teach you a lot of THEORY and some "nuts & bolts" to make a movie, know that most schools do not prepare students for a real life in the professional film industry.

There is no single way to "get into" the movie business. The best way, though, is to learn how the industry actually works and then with that knowledge, you can then find a way in that works best for YOU.

The book linked to below will help you learn what everyone on actual professional film sets go through to get to that point. For the most comprehensive WORLDWIDE list of filmschools available anywhere, go to http://www.whatireallywanttodo.com and click on the "filmschools" link at the top.

    Good luck!

UCLA is considered the best film school in the country, but it's hard to get in. I have a few friends making a living in the industry, and most of them attended Chapman University or the American Film Institute -- both here in SoCal. Where ever you go, you should understand that going to school in LA County (and being around the industry) is probably just as important to becoming a filmmaker as the education itself.
So -- go to school to learn budgeting, lens, cameras, crewing and call times... live in LA to actually shoot films with serious professionals who will all get jobs in the industry and someday mention you to a friend whose got money to pay for a director :)
