Can you get drunk off of hand sanitizer?

You'd be seriously ill or killed before you ever noticed the effect of being drunk. I've heard of people who are Alcoholics who are so desperate they tried drinking hand sanitizer and some who've drunk mouth wash. Neither story turned out so good. The active agreement on the bottle I have here on my desk is ethyl alcohol, which is the same as what you'd find in beer, so I'd guess yes. However, among the inactive ingredients I see isopropyl alcohol, which metabolizes into acetone, which is toxic. I'm sure some of the other ingredients are also harmful.

this is what skid row people do..they steal the hand sanitizers from the hospitals etc..this has recently been happening in Vancouver..But the downside is that this substance while it might give you a brief high..also causes blindness, liver failure and a number of other almost immediate results.

I have heard of toddlers getting alcohol poisoning from drinking small amounts of the stuff. (3 different stories) the parents were scared that their 2 and 3 yr olds were acting "drunk." It turned out they really were. The 3 yr old said it was the "hand wash."

Everything everyone has said is lies. You CAN get very drunk of hand sanitizer...or as I like to call it hand hammertizer. You will never get a hangover either. TRY IT!!! Hand Sanitizer also cleans out your liver so you can do drugs and get drunk a lot!!

yes; you most certainly can get drunk. in the alcohol based hand sanatizer that is making small children drunk in the news stories, the alcohol level is usually 62%. which is more than most vodka, which averages about 40%.
