Easily. If you've got a Microsoft Office pack, I believe you should have Microsoft Office Picture Manager. That's the simplest program if you want to rescale I can think of right now

There are two ways to go about it. The simplest is to take the pictures at the size you want them to be. Look for a setting on the camera that lets you reduce the quality. All this does is reduce the number of pixels in the image, so it will come out at a smaller size. The better way is to modify the picture once its on your computer. There are any number of programs that will do this, and at least one of them probably came with your camera. For viewing on the screen, pay no attention to dpi or sizes that measure in inches. All that matters is the number of horizontal and vertical pixels. Generally, if you shoot for no more than 700 horizontal pixels, you'll be able to view the picture on any computer monitor without having to scroll it. Be sure to keep "maintain aspect ratio" on at all times, or the picture will get distorted. edit: I say that's the better way because it's impossible to add resolution to a digital image (no matter what the writers of CSI think), but it's easy to reduce the resolution.

I always change the setting on my camera so I can upload them to my computer and not have to mess with them. Somewhere in the menu there should be an option to change the size. I can't remember the one I use, but it's somewhere around 600x400 (I know that's not accurate, but somewhere close).
