The simply fact that they are experts in their respective field should give you a reason as to why their opinions count so highly. Regardless of the artists view point.
Compare it to medicine. There is no dispute that to become a doctor you need to be an expert in medicine. Doctor one is completely against plastic surgery yet a patient comes in with horrific burns to the face. The doctor would suggest plastic surgery to help with the scaring, even though he is against it.
Give the experts the benefit of the doubt imo.
