  • Depends where you live but you could make appeal and state your grievance to the insurance board. You can also seek legal advice if you think the claim/damages justifies spending more money to recover the amount of the claim. Remember the insurance has three words they live by, deny deny deny. :-)
  • Yes, its called civil court. i believe your policy has a clause that covers this question. all policies are worded differently, so read it carefully. if in doubt, contact an attorney friend and let him advise you. insurance companies love to take your premium money, but are sometimes very stingy on paying a claim.
  • (US) First, make the insurance company state in writing exactly why they are denying your claim. At the same time ask that they cite where in your policy it states that such a claim is not covered. If you still disagree, before you decide to litigate, contact the insurance commision in your state. Here is a link to a list for each US sate: http://personalinsure.about.com/cs/statecommisioners/a/blcommissioners.htm The state commision will ask for details, so be prepared with a summary of your case (all correspondence from insurance company, a copy of your policy, any supporting evidence such as estimates, photographs, etc.). Be sure you also provide contact information for your claim adjuster, insurance carrier, and where they may contact you if there are additional questions. Litigation should be a last resort option because it is time consuming and expensive. Hope this helps.
