  • If it's too late and he's already purchased an engagement ring, first remember that he probably spent a lot of time selecting the ring and that you love him. But, if he hasn't, here is one option: Go to the mall one day and ask to stop by a jewelers to have a ring cleaned (most do this service for free). As you're waiting, casually step over to the rings you like. You can tell the sales associate that you're just browsing. Then, start pointing out rings that you think are pretty and definitely which ones you don't like. If you think that's too obvious, then occasionally point out a ring or other piece of jewelry that you like or don't like. While you're talking you can make a comment as to how women are very picky about their jewelry or something along those lines. I hope this helps and hope you get the ring he can afford and you love.
  • I would make up a reason to go shopping, together, near the store where you like the engagement rings. Like maybe your boyfriend can help you choose a new blouse or, better yet, new clothes for the bedroom... that will probably muster up his will to go on a shopping trip. The rest is up to you... timing is everything... start window shopping well before the jewelry store... talk up each store -- homewares for the future vacation home... luggage for the future dream vacation... and when you get to the jewelry store... start with the $10,000 watches that would look so good on that dream cruise... then work your way over to the rings. Good luck!
