You may need to defragment the memory. It takes a while, but is worth it in the end.

The more memory you take up on your harddrive, the slower your laptop gets.
I suggest deleting old, unneeded items and folders to increase the speed.
If that doesn't work, I'm not sure about anything else, except what Greekgod said...

There's some process called defragging, which sounds slightly naughty to me, but which helped things with my laptop. For directions on how to do this, see your Windows manual or Google it on the internet.

Define constantly and define over how much time. What OS are you using? Vista? XP?

The first thing I'd be doing is monitoring the processes in task manager to see what's actually running that could be slowing things down.

first of all check for virus.virus programmes do decrease the performance of the computer.defragement ur hard disk once in a week.disable unwanred startup iteam(if ur using windows xp run>msconfig>startup tab).update windows regularly.clean junk files, you can use ccleaner to clean junk files.don't put everthing in the root(windows drive)drive, make one partition for windows drive and install program files in another partition.if these doesn't increase the speed ,buy a new one.
