Why do dogs bury things?

they can't afford storage lockers

since dogs are pretty much tamed wolves, their instincts tell them to bury things they want to save for later so as not to keep out in the open were anything can take it. It's just like how wolves bury left over food for later so that eagles don't get to it

dogs do this to keep them items safe from other animals and humans. i have 2 dogs and they often hide items from each others or they protect them with their life. it is something that comes natural
