  • Absolutely. I spent most of my adult years in college towns. Second hand clothing shops do fantastic business. Students not only like to refresh their wardrobes regularly, many are also on a budget. It is popular in the professor/instructor set as well.
  • Yes, that's usually a good spot for a used clothing store. Students generally have limited incomes, so if they can get jeans and shirts at a lower price, and possibly sell their own used items for extra cash, they are likely to patronize a used clothing store. Advertise it in the student newspaper.
  • Ask Goodwill. their business is booming. Most college students cannot afford new clothes. A shop near them would be perfect. Just do not sell junk.
  • Oh yes. There were many such places near LSU's campus and they did well.
  • Well.... the used clothing shop near our uni is very popular, especially beccause it has an awesome selection for 80s partys etc. We also used to be able to sell bags of our own clothes for some some extra cash. And surveys are allways a good idea. hope this helps. :)
  • Yes. I am assuming you take in used clothes as well as sell them. The thing you have to be careful about it not to take in things that you can't re-sell. The re-sale shop near my college only pays for items after they sell. They take things in on consignment only. If the item doesn't sell within a specified time, it is returned to the client, if it does, a % of the sale is given to the client. that way they don't waste a lot of space/money on things that won't sell.
  • i've also heard (from a consignment shop owner) that, in contrast to most businesses, the more used clothes shops in the vicinity, the better location to open another one! (the logic behind this is, if you go to one used clothing store and don't find what they're looking for, just go next door to check that one!)
  • Around here, every business is around a college. You can't spit without hitting a college. Really. I live in a city of like 80,000, and we have three colleges, I think, in this city, two more just out of this city, and seemingly more colleges then Walgreen's in the metropolitan area. Have no idea where all these students are coming from. Wait, we have four here. One just opened a few blocks from here.
  • Sounds good to me..........some students are known to be poor while going to school...........Where can I deliver my used underwear?
