Excellent run-down of HR's. Still, I wonder how many games in one season it took for the others to break Babe Ruth's record. I've heard they played more games per season, and that his record still stands for the number of games in a season. I'd be interested in knowing more about that...

FYI - The Babe hit 60HR in 1927, playing 151 games and having 540 at-bats. Barry Bonds played 153 games in his 73 homer season in 2001, two more than the Babe, but hit homers at a far greater rate per-game, and only had 476 at-bats, 64 LESS than the Babe. So I don't think the Babe can still hold any records as far as this goes... also, Mark McGwire's 70 homer season in 1998 saw him have only 509 at-bats, 31 less than Ruth.

@ me it starts from Maris down!Baseball is a joke now and has been since the mid 70's!I'm only 29yrs old and even when i was younger in the early 90"s i kinda liked baseball but even then and now i enjoy the old baseball games in the 50"s and 60"s even though i don't follow baseball closely and am a huge football fan.But even if i was a die hard baseball fan in the 50's i wouldev gave up on it by the mid 70's(except 4 watching Nolan Ryan ha ha)Cause n imo the game was ruined by Mark McGuire and Bonds and all them juiced up jerks. They did along with many others a horrible thing 2 baseball that as really ruined the game for ever and it will never be the same. But yea they should diffently be thrown out the record books.Jus go bak to 1987-1990 and look at bonds and McGuire look how small they were!!1Then all sudden u turn round 40yrs old and ur built like a brick shit house!Man u don't get like that unless ur on steriods!!!!
