There are two reasons that come to mind. The first is that people like things in neat little, simple packages. Even though the question is in-depth, we would like to think that there is a simple solution to everything. In some cases its a coping mechanism. One can feel better about a big problem, knowing that the solution to it is very simple. Its also a certain personality type that demands a short answer to a difficult question. Dominant, direct personality types don't want to hear the details. They need their questions answered in one sentence, regardless of the complexity of the question. This question is very abstract, but I hope I've provided two thought provoking answers.
