The prognosis of malignant mesothelioma is extremely poor. Chemotherapy has been the only modality which has shown any result and it is generally below 20% and survival only 6-9 months.

The chance of recovery (prognosis) from mesothelioma depends on the size of the mesothelioma, where the mesothelioma is, how far the mesothelioma has spread, how the mesothelioma cells look under the microscope, how the mesothelioma responds to treatment, and the patient’s age.
