  • Many hotel and motel chains are becoming environmentally friendly, including Hyatt Regency, Sheraton, Days Inn, Motel 6, Howard Johnsons, to name a few. Just because some locations are environmentally friendly, or Green, as they are commonly called, does not mean that all of the locations are. Some are individually owned or franchised so you would need to check with the individual hotel or motel where you plan on staying. A good list of participating hotels can be found at www.bestgreenhotels.com. The site can be searched by hotel name or you can view their entire available list. This is not a complete list of all hotels that are "green". If you google search green hotels and the state name you plan on visiting, or the province in Canada, you can also pull up more hotels/motels. A recent stay at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale showed me that with the renovations that they are currently undergoing, they are also becoming a green hotel. There were notices in the room concerning linen service and the lavatory had new fixtures that were designed to conserve water as well.
