With the mass transit system (public transportation)at everyone's disposal, I wouldn't be against having the limit be risen to 21. Driving is a privilage, not a right. And unless you live in the sticks somewhere, city slickers shouldn'nt have problems getting from point A to B., using public transportation.
I think there are some 14 year olds that could theoretically drive and be safe. (Not many but a few) I also know for a fact that there are many people that are 21 and older who are crappy drivers and I wonder how they got their licenses.
To me 16 is a fair enough age to get a license. It gives people a chance to practice at just the right age. People are getting jobs about now as most people start highering at 16 so a car is a great way to transport yourself if parents or public transportation is unavailable.
I am not sure if the age should be raised or the power of the cars available to young (inexperienced) drivers.
Youngsters with no fear and fast cars can be a lethal mix
I've always thought there should be ONE age for becoming an adult. In my state you can drive at 16, vote at 18 and drink at 21. I wish they would settle on one age and be done with it.
