High performance tires - It's time to replace the tires on my lexus is250. Can you tell me what would be the effect if I replaced them with non-high performance, longer wearing tires? I use the care for regular commuting.

It will change the feel of the ride, but unless you're really really car savvy, not by much. As far as the life of the car? Go for it!

Longer stopping distance and less cornering ability, but you knew this. The manufacture has validated the vehicles performance with the equipment that it came with. This includes ride quality, interior noise, stopping distance, ABS performance, fuel economy and many other things. To say in detail, how these will be affected is difficult. In reality, these changes are very small and would be difficult to notice without using test equipment. (This is what I do for a living) You will be fine.
