  • Dress to impress is always the way to go.
  • I would attend an interview wearing a nice turtleneck shirt with a sports jacket because I want to relaxed when I start to field the questions that the interviewer throws at me. I don't want to go in there looking like some kind of a store manneken wearing a gray suit with a striped tie. Interviewers will overlook the guys who look like stiffs. They are more intrigued by guys who seem flexible and relaxed.
  • Depends on the industry you are interviewing in. Banks tend to be more formal and I would go with a nice full suit. Technology jobs can be less formal, so maybe a sports jacket, but you need to know the company you are going for. Artistic jobs are a wide open. Whatever you wear, make sure it's clean, stain-free and has no holes.
  • Check out how the people where you have the interview dress and wear something slightly dressier than that.
  • 1st impression is half of the Interview, so your overall appearance should make you look like you will fit in at your prospective employer. oskar/vienna
  • Always dress a bit better than for the job you apply for. If it is a service job, dress in nice black slacks, clean shoes, and a white button shirt, because if they hire you on the spot they won't have to send you home to change first.
  • You probably have a job by now or else you've starved to death!! I was an interviewer for 10 years and I also did hiring for our warehouse positions. I was always impressed with the guys who wore a shirt, tie and sport coat even though they didn't have to. They showed respect for the position open and I knew they'd gone to a lot of trouble to appear at their best.
