  • Conventional satellite tuners should be compatible with any consumer digital video recorder (DVR). Tuners output standard NTSC (in North America) composite video, s-video, and/or component video signals. HD satellite tuners output 720p (non-interlaced) or 1080i (interlaced) video signals. I have not seen a consumer-grade DVR that is compatible with HD signals, although some provide inputs for DV (digital video) camcorders. Compatibility with HD will arrive when HD television penetrates further into the consumer marketplace.
