I usually stay home with a bottle of wine, watch old movies and go to bed shortly after midnight. I know it doesn't sound very exciting but it beats getting into an accident with drunk drivers on the road.

I always stay home on New Year's eve. When the kids were young we did fireworks. I cook black eyed peas and cornbread on New Years day. There are usually some folks that come over to eat.

My friends & I attend a Bowl Burning Ceremony. You write down all of the things you want to rid yourself of from the previous year. Then we burn them. Next we write a letter to ourselves on what we want to accomplish for the coming year, which is mailed the following December. It's cool to get the letter and see what goals you did and didn't accomplish.

Nope we surely don't. Each New Year's Eve has been different from every other. But we do eat Blackeyed Peas on New Year's Day for good luck! Happy Wednesday ChiLady! :)

For the last four years we have gone camping on New Years Eve. Some winters it is okay but others are awful. I'm hoping we go somewhere south (like Florida) this New Years for the tradition!

Here's one a Scotsman told me about. At the change of the year open your windows to let the old year out. Shut the windows and open the door to let the New Year in.
