  • I am not sure, a lot of people think people online are not real for some reason or that they can lie. Sure they can but so can people in your so called real life. Just because you can see a person doesn't make them any more or less trustworthy than someone you can't see. After all how do the blind then judge who is a good person and who isn't? Having a relationship with another person be it business, friendship or love is all about trusting and takign risks no matter where it is.
  • 1) you could eventually learn a lot about a person by ready their own texts and texts that have been written by their biographers, or some others of their productions. If you are just having a little chat on the internet with those persons, you could certainly have a particular experience and interaction, but it would usually be limited. 2) as you are pointing at this, you are certainly aware that some persons do not tell everything about their identity on the internet, and some even take a totally different identity. You usually have no real possibility of checking who they are. 3) whether you know the person through reading about them, or chatting with them, the communication is limited to a very small part of what you would get if you experienced the real person. By meeting the person in real life, you would get: - statur, aura, body language, voice, appearance, smells, shaking hands, dialect, etc... Most of those things can be checked if you meet the person and you get much more information in a very short time, many of this information uncounsciously.
  • I agree----we learn by reading text---you can never truly know anyone for real unless you have been around them for a long time---but there words say alot about who they want to be.
  • If you have two honest people, they can get to know alot about each other on the net.
  • If someone is going to put up a front it doesn't matter if you're talking to them through some medium or in person. Of course, it's a lot easier to hide physical characteristics online. The only difference between me online and in RL (Yeah, i refer to life as RL. You wanna fight about it?) is i'm much more inhibited in reality. But you don't know for sure, perhaps i'm really a turnip.
