  • I think it would never work... seeing as we can't even get our country in line.. this will be successful when we finally get world peace ;)
  • A regulating body intending to stem corporate centralisation and enforce human rights would be good. A gigantic, all-powerful corporate outlet would be bad.
  • Bad idea! If government is a motley collection of evil works (and it is), why do we want an all powerful entity with no checks and balances. No thanks.
  • On one hand, it would never hold together and would likely end in World Civil War I, however i assume it's better than a multi-World government.
  • under what system? Islam is all for it.
  • I think it will be brilliant in the future but right now the world is just not ready for one. There is too much hatred and prejudice between individual countries and groups of peoples.
  • I believe a one world government is wrong. If some people want to live in a society run by a government or feel that they need to be governed so be it, thats their right.. but its not for me. I only want to be free. I don't need anyone else running ANYTHING in my life; and I believe that everyone has a right to live ungoverned should they so choose. Unfortunately there are those who are so consumed by their fear of the unknown that they just cant allow anyone to exist out from underneath their watchful eye. Live and let live.
  • A one world government would end freedom on the planet, therefore I vote for bad. Those who think that the Star Trek model would actually happen are kidding themselves, it would probably look more like the Stalin or Hitler model as a realistic view of the situation.
  • If it was a good, fair one, it would be great. But man can't handle that. He always thinks he knows best, no matter where he lives:-)
  • It depends on how it was setup. If it were a federalism type system that only gave the international government the limited power of controlling inter-nation commerce, travel, and to coin money, YES. Otherwise, no.
  • The idea horrifies me. You think it's hard protesting against, getting heard by, or submitting your ideas to the president of a country? Try the president of the world.
  • Once I take over the world, there won't be much of a choice...mwa ha ha.
  • What happen to being American? who would ever in their right mind even dream a thought of another country running our system....I will never be ruled or include myself in your New World Order...bunch of patsies
  • I'm thinking a three world government. Conservatives, liberals and moderates.
  • Impossible and definately bad.
  • Oh, great idea! As long, of course, as it's not the US government
  • And if you don't like it, or if they start oppressing you or your group, where are you going to flee to? Governments tend to increase their power over their citizens over time, and eventually that power may become absolute. All power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. A one-world government would be extremely powerful, and your wishes, needs and interests would mean no more to a ruling council than the needs of a single stalk of wheat in a field that was five miles on each side. (I did the math and that's how important you would look compared to the world's population--there would be roughly six billion stalks of wheat in a field of 25 square miles.) Since the world's leftist press constantly stirs up hatred for America, just count on everything you have and enjoy being taxed away under such a government, and being governed by laws that force you to do things that you hate.
  • HORRIBLE!
  • absolutely not.....there will never be that kind of government..
  • Hopefully someday! = Good! ;-)
  • I get disgusted when I hear of anyone supporting a One World Goverment or saying it would be a good idea. There are certain individuals however within the US government, for one, who think that they are on the verge of creating a New World Order or One-World Government and are fighting hard to do so. Once you hear of the US president calling for a North American Union, combining Canada, the US, and Mexico, -- that's when you know it is pretty much a done deal. The Combined entities and Central Banks of The European Union, The Asian Pacific Union, The American Union, and The African Union, will indeed be governed by ONE. There will be no freedoms and sheeple will be slaves.
  • A true One-World government would only be good for the people in the areas where it would essentially average out to no powerful governing bodies at all. The closest thing to a One-World government that could actually help humanity at this point would be an agreement between all our preexisting governments to adhere to some minimal ground rules so that their power can be limited. Ironically enough, though, as bad as a One-World government with the same sorts of authority as national governments would likely be, the state of human affairs makes it more and more apparent as times goes on that a "One-World" mentality needs to be shared between the world's independent governments. Because in much the same way that obedience to law without higher allegiance to some "Higher Law" of personal morality is bad, national governments having the powers they do today without allegiance to some sort of centralized, basic rules is a system that has been consistently contributing to some of humanities worst plights for most of recorded history. As far as I'm concerned, humanity needs either SOME sort of protection from the corrupt, deceitfully self-perpetuating systems which have stolen our god-given freedoms and laid unfounded claims to our very lives, or humans need to be their own protectors by doing all they can to smash the thrones of their self-appointed "Leaders" once and for all.
  • This is a bad idea. It's to bad that most people don't see it already happening thou Groups like the UN and Bilderberg Group. If the world is ruled by one government it make a revolution near inpossible because oppossing army would be smashed before they where srong enough to do anything. That would aloue the goverment to run wild because there would be no cheack on it. Today and in the past when there have been governments who have gotten out of control for instance Nazi Germany there where places for people to flee and armys to fight them. In a globle gorvernment that would not be true.
  • I like it.
  • At the moment, I think it would just be a hollow gesture that would ultimately fail. The human race needs to figure out how to get along and respect each others differances before it can come together under a single flag.
  • It would be bad. A one world government would impose the same set of laws and governing style on all countries, which would be ineffective, because different cultures have different mores and different needs as a populace.
  • Government in and of itself within a monetary economy is corrupt and always will be, with corporations leading us down the path of continual cyclical consumption and the squandering of our natural resources on a scale that has never been seen all in the name of profits. Something needs to be done but Government is not the answer. Until people in the world start waking up and realize the symbiotic relationship we all must have with the earth in order for our survival, I'm afraid nothing will be done.
  • i Think it will !!!! one goverment , one people , one aim :)
  • Depends on its structure. Big, unwieldy, bureaucratic governments are relatively safe next to the efficient, Ayn Rand-fantasized police states because they at least provide a counterweight to other prevailing institutions with authoritarian tendencies, like financial capitalism and the church. It's not that big, unwieldy, bureaucratic governments are good, it's just that they're usually too big and dumb to interfere with people's personal lives the way oligarchical U.S. Republikan Party-style police states are designed to operate. That said, ideally there should be no Westphalian-style government. People are perfectly capable of managing their own affairs within the framework of the family, village, town, or city.
  • Yes, but it should not interfere with individual cultures or decrease any civil rights. There must be strict controls imposed on it; a sort of "shadow government" that can halt abuses or nullify bad legislation. +5
  • If you are in favour of a communist government where people have no rights then a one-world government might be for you. However if you enjoys the freedoms of life then it would not be good.
