My 2000 grand am wont start unless you hold gas pedal down than it dies. the only time it will run is if you start it an hold the gas pedal down to about 2000 rpms for 3-5 min. than it will stay on

I would think about changing the coolent temp sensor. That could cause the problem and the part is not that expensive and easy to change.

I'd think it was clogged fuel injector(s) and/or fuel filter firstly. Ask your local auto parts store for their very best fuel injector cleaner and try that first.
