Is it legal...? Autos

Question:

I purchased a parts car. The title was given to me (not transferred) by the previous owner. The title was given to him in the same manner by that previous owner. That person signed the back of the title as the seller. How can I get a valid title?

Well, I had a similar transaction when I sold my Landrover. I signed the back of the title and gave it to the buyer. I did not accompany him. He went to the courthouse and was able to transfer it without me. So, I think you can just go to the courthouse. However, if any back taxes are due from any of the previous years, you may get stuck with it. If it is just a parts car, the court house may be able to 'junk' the title. That will put the car in your name and possibly will dismiss any taxes owed. Good luck.
