Less than ten miles, a very small airport.
I don't but my brother and his wife live in the flight path of Heathrow. He has a week on and week off (no planes) going over the house alternately. When it is the week when they go over his house they are constant, one after the other every few minutes and the noise is considerable. However, you must become used to it because this is the second house he has bought in the flight path of Heathrow - or, perhaps he's as deaf as a post (hmmm, never thought of that).
I'm in the D-FW airport flight path.
Kinda' close. Maybe 20 - 25 miles from LAX.
I live at the end of 27-E.
When I was a kid, the "local" airport was basically in my back yard. Traffic was very limited, mostly small prop planes and some very small commercial jets. Once a prop plane missed the runway and crashed in the back yard. Since then, it has grown... two years ago they bought and tore down my father's house to enlarge the access road. Ironically, the planned access road would displace a family of nesting eagles (an endangered species in this state) so the new road is on permanent hold.
Just a few miles.
About 20 minutes away. It's a TINY airport though.
45 minutes
