  • Yes it does.
  • Yes it does.
  • yes, the M2 has them attached together on belts, but they pop right off of those.
  • They can both fire the same rounds but the sniper rifles usually use the Mk 211 Raufoss round. Surprisingly, standard military ball is not as accurate or repeatable as armor piercing. So when using anything other than Mk211, AP is a good choice. (edit) While the M2 .50 cal machine gun can shoot the SLAP round (saboted) the M107 sniper rifle cannot.
  • The .50 BMG cartridge is also used in long-range target and sniper rifles, as well as other .50 machine guns. The use in single-shot and semi-automatic rifles has resulted in many specialized match-grade rounds not used in .50 machine guns. A McMillan Tac-50 .50 BMG sniper rifle was used by Canadian Corporal Rob Furlong to bring off the longest-range confirmed sniper kill in history, when he shot a Taliban insurgent at 2,430 meters (2,657 yards/7,972 feet/1.509 miles) during the 2002 campaign in Afghanistan.[1]
  • With the exception of SLAP rounds since they are saboted and could damage the muzzle brake.
  • NO. The military rounds for 50 cal. machine guns should not be fired in 50 cal. rifles for match or snipers. The tolerances of match and sniper chambers are held to tighter tolerances than machinegun chambers. It is entirely likely you would be unable to close the bolt on a McBros rifle if you used some cheap ammo. You may also not get the bolt opened after firing it also. Since McBros rifles have match chambers and Leja barrels which are hand lapped, using Machine gun or cheap ammo would result in ruining those pristine hand lapped bores. The Lead on those match rifles are not freebored, which means the amount of travel to engage the rifling is less on match rifles to increase accuracy. Ammo that isn't held to exact standards and tolerances may "jam" into the short lead of these match rifles resulting in skyrocketing pressures. If there is one gun you don't wont blowing up in your face it a shell that hold 233 grains of powder. You will look very silly wearing the bolt on or in your forehead.
