The best advice i can give you is get a lawyer that specializes in parents rights and see what he/she can do for you. Sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to prove that he isn't right for the kid and wouldn't be hard to prove he isn't able to take care of the kid if anything should happen to you. You would also have to think about who the child would go to if you were to pass away. Good luck.

talk to a lawyer that deals with family cases, it varies from state to state but most if not all need consent from the father to completely take away parental rights. no matter what the guy has done he still legally has a right to his child even if it is only with supervised visitation. set up child support through the state so he has to pay his child sup to them and then they pay you so as they can keep tabs on what he pays and when, if he doesnt pay eventually they take him to court or take away his tax refunds and send them to you. even if you dont want his money doing this may make him be more complient when it comes to signing over his rights, if he doesnt care for his child he wont want to have to pay for him either.
