(vulgar) A vulgarized version of the phrase "kicks-and-giggles".

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/shits-and-giggles

kicks and giggles:

amusement without any serious purpose; fun.

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/kicks-and-giggles

the private school, sheltered version of shits 'n giggles -
making it possible to say just for the hell of it without all the cursing.

"Let's go to the store just for kicks and giggles"

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php

The slang usage is "Jus' Fer Kicks, Grins, and Giggles..."

Thanks! That's the only thing I could find also. I was kinda hoping for more history on it. It doesn't really say why people started saying it.

When a person gets amusement without a serious purpose,
he hangs his head, kicks the ground and giggles.
It is part of natural psyche of humans. No history for
it can be traced out.

Thanks! Someone my hubby works with never heard the phrase, and my hubby emailed me asking about where it came from.
