The common worship of the Pantheon and the common bonds that the nobles and the peasant class shared where they were all equals before the gods and that even one of the best of their society could be ostracized and where one of the humblest could achieve the greatest ranks of power. their Democratic principles separated them from the great many other early civilizations that mainly focused upon autocratic rule and placed the reigns of power in a few instead of within those of the many where ancient Greece did. Of course they were not perfect but they were a lot better than many other societies of their age.
