You're reading I inserted a wrong voltage(5V) in my laptop and the laptop uses 19V, and my laptop is turned on and the power adapter is plugged in the outlet when I do this, will my laptop or the power adapter be damaged?
Comments
Thanks, that relieved me a lot, thing is, I accidentally inserted my PSP's power adapter in my laptop :(

I mean that's the output voltage and the laptop ignored it the adapter shouldn't be hurt because it outputs the voltage and nothing's going in.

I know how that goes, There are so many power supply "bricks" around these days it's not hard to do. I think they should standardize the connector/voltage so that can't happen

So nor my laptop or my power adapter is damaged right? Right now I'm charging my PSP and I hope the adapter is not damage so it won't damage my PSP, contagious if you would.

Nope, I think your cool.. The worst thing that could happen to the 5V adapter would be to blow an internal fuse. That would make it not work at all. If the PSP says it's charging that didn't happen. The only way to hurt the PSP would be to put in more voltage than it wants (like 19 volts) and I can't think of any way the 5 volt unit could be hurt that would cause it to output more than 5. But make sure you don't hook the 19V laptop supply to the PSP, That could smoke the PSP for sure.

As for the notebook, 5V into a 19V input should have no effect. To make sure, just plug in the 19V adapter and pull the battery. If the battery can't come out at least check that the charging light comes on.

It all works great, thanks for the comfort.

Good deal, now just keep that notebook power supply away from the PSP. Can I suggest some colored tape? Wrap the tape on the cord next to the charging plug and put a small dot of tape next to the charging port.
