My car needs new tie rods. I've never heard of these before. Are they generally expensive for an American-made car?

My daughter just had an accident and her tie rods snapped in two! Apparently this is rare, but could cause one to lose control - not so good. I believe she had them replaced for under $200.00 including parts and labor. Good luck.

Must have been a bad wreck. That's not such a bad price though, thanks. =]

They are never very expensive. Just let me look under your hood and maybe then I can bend everything back into shape just the way you like it.

They are not very expensive no. Just forged pieces of steel. If you have a domestic then they are plentiful and should be easy to find. Labour may get you but that can vary by location. They are very important pieces but not very expensive.

Hope this helps,
Good luck

Just out of curiosity, who told you that you need new tie rods, and why? Cracked?

I don't have my car now, and I'm not sure who my mom took it to to look at it. But I would believe it after I've been driving that thing for four years and wrecked it twice. Besides, it's almost 9 or 10 years old.

It's been wrecked? Yeah. That makes sense then. Accident-free life will not really harm tie rods. However, crashes put enormous strain on them.

I just had the tie-rods replaced on my car. The rods were around $75 a piece and labor was about $20 per rod, but that price is going to vary depending on the make of your vehicle and the service center that you go to.

Oh, not bad. Thanks for your help!

No problem. Just make sure you get those taken care off ASAP! Your wheel could literally fall off while driving if you don't.

They shouldn't be. (off subject) I hope you feel better real soon. Just get plenty of rest and all that, ok.
