depends on what you want, but i wouldn't say its gender specific.

I wouldn't say it is only women, it seems whenever someone is no longer on the "market" that is when people come out of the woodwork and they want to date you, I won't say that I wouldn't want a guy i couldn't have.. as they say "the grass is always greener on the other side" and you always wonder if you could have a better relationship with someone else. But i would never break up a relationship to get the one i want, especially because if it is the "only want what you can't have" you won't want him long after you get him..
