  • I have heard that Shure has the best microphones around. And i would get a good soundcard.
  • Shure are decent, and are used for recording, though probably better known for their live applications. You can get a second hand Shure SM58 (good value, tough vocal mic) for about £50. Be careful not to just buy any old Shure, mnake sure it is a vocal mic. The SM57 for example is actually a kick drum mic!! You will need a soundcard as it is unlikely that your computer will have a good enough one at the minute. These can be very expensive, but start from just under £100. You will also need some software. This will depend on what you are trying to do do. Just record yourself singing solo? recording over a backing track? recording you plus some live instruments? All applications will require different software. So you are looking at £150 plus osme software. If this is too much then you are best just sticking to a really basic PC microphone. It won't give great results but there isn't really much option in between where you will get value for money. Hope that helps!
