• Yes. Although artificial insemination has been the most successful way of breeding pandas in captivity, Mother Nature's way is gaining ground as more is learned about the panda's natural habits. Lessons learned and applied to housing pandas in more natural settings and attempting to mate pandas based on a broader base of males for the picky females is resulting in more successful pregnancies without resorting to artificial insemination. Pandas are easily stressed when exposed to people, so it has been especially hard to successfully breed them in captivity.
