If you are just a few days late filing, go ahead and file your tax return and send the IRS the money you owe. They may not charge you anything for your lateness, but if they do, they will send you a bill later. The best thing to do is file any delinquent taxes as soon as possible and pay the taxes due. Do not calculate any penalties or interest, the IRS will send you a bill. The longer you wait the more you will owe.
