i think rudely passionate. on his show ramseys kitchen night mares. he just get so frustrated that he has to be rude to some of the people to fire them up
-
Yes.
-
He's just passionate. Have you ever seen his US shows? He seems ruder on the US shows than he does on the BBC shows.
-
He cooks with the same foul mouth he used on the football pitch. Passion is one thing foul mouthed trashing is something else.
-
he is kinda rude but if you wanna be the best cook you can be you have to listen to what he says cause he is very passionate about what he does and he dont like to see screw ups like everyone on the show does. but he makes them a better cook than what they started out. so i think he has to be rude to be truthful about cooking that is not good.
-
Both. Being frank and critical isn't necessarily anithetical to passion, if anything it's a sign of it.
-
He is much worse on the US TV shows. On other shows he exhibits a different kind of anger. Yes, he can be rude and denigrating and the worse kind of person, but you see real reasons for it on shows like Boiling point where he is upset because things are less than perfect at his own restaurant. He wants excellence. The people that work for him respect him because yes he's got a temper but he is above all things, fair and very passionate about fantastic food and the best service and hospitality. He never asks from them more than he has given or will give. He has a totally charing family with very sweet kids that he is very tender with. SO even though he yells like the worst my father ever gave and that scares me, I admire his passion for perfection. I just don't like how he goes about it.
-
He is an over rated chef and a loud self loving c***
-
I think he is just so passionate he cannot contain himself. He does all he can to bring out what he knows people are capable of. Whether or not they choose to be all they are capable of is not up to him. He just does his best to get them to see the potential.
-
I don't think it is a case of either/or. He is both - a very passionate man who is looking for perfection from himself and those around him. He seems to lack patience for this, and as such, is a rude bugger. Watching him on 'Kitchen Nightmares' shows him to be passionate about food and keen to help others succeed.
-
He is passionate and rude at the same time , and that is for sure!!!
-
On his BBC series that airs here in America, I have seen him show compassion for others as well as heated passion. In other words I have seen a more human side of him that is not present so much in in Hell's Kitchen in the u.s. I think what we se is not really rudeness but an intense passion in what he does. He really cares about his work.
-
He is the man and I have a lot of respect for him.
-
Passionate about his work, and his TV ratings (meek and mild mannered doesn't grab the viewers)!

I worked for Gordon Ramsay for a short time...I'll tell you this: I never saw the guy, but his chefs are paid to be assholes...it's part of the job description...break down the ego of any rat fuck that walks through the door...wipe away all of your delicate sensibilities and get used to being ready to knock fuckers out...I'm an asshole too in my kitchen...If you don't move fast (cause you're in my way), If you don't do it right (cause you'll remember next time), If you don't remember next time (cause you're slow...see reason one), or If you give me any lip...cause I'll bust yours in half!...Its part of a busy kitchen culture and a best kitchen culture...I've been in 'nice guy' kitchens...they don't excel...some of them are lucky enough to be good, but they're never the best GRamsay is rude BECAUSE he's passionate about his work and even the nicest chef has an end to his patience...the one's with the short patience just get it done faster
-
gordan ramsey aint rude at all he just under pressure in a kitchen, working in a kintchen under so much pressure from puplic saying weres my food after ten minutes,it takes more than ten minutes 2 make goood food.he is very pasionate about his food,

I thought he was rude, until I started watching his shows. Those little clips are terribly misleading, but they're only to get peoples attention and to get you to tune in and watch the show. Gordon is often called in with only a week allowed to save a failing restaurant from imminent failure, and he never knows what he's going to be facing until he gets there. He is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate, and often has to figure a way to deal with clueless owners or kitchen staff. He is asked to do the impossible, and he does it time and time again. He has such a desire to help people and see them succeed, and often the only way to make these individuals wake up and to respond is to be confrontational. However, even when he's confrontational, he listens. He's never confrontational without concern for the other persons success, I've found, and he's always willing to work with them. He always gives them the reins and lets them improve, always shares his insights as to what they're doing wrong and why they're not succeeding, and always goes way out of his way to give them clear, straightforward advice on how to succeed, including writing up entire new menus for them, and giving lessons to the waiters and waitresses on how to do their jobs. My view of the man has changed considerably since I first saw him.

Rude as hell! i dont think he has a decent bone in his body!
-
He is indeed a truly passionate man. If you've spent one night on the line with a true chef, you'd know what I mean. Every night is show time and there are no second chances, get it right the first time or get the f__k out of his kitchen. I don't feel bad for those people on his show, Hell's Kitchen...if your food is trash, it belongs there. You chose, even competed, for a chance to work with him. If you're going to be on national TV, with the grand prize being your own restaurant, and you don't bring your A game, you deserve to go home. Hundreds of cooks and chefs would kill to be tutored by such an artist.
-
He is both.

Oops! Answer posted twice!

i think he's extremely passionate...about food, about teaching people and life in general..i think he's great..the more i watch him..the more i like him. yes, he's abrasive, and has a foul mouth., but the man knows what he's talkng about!♥♥♥♥
-
i think he's very passionate about food and teaching people..i think he's great!! he does have a foul mouth, but he doesn't suffer fools gladly.♥♥♥♥
-
I think he wouldn't last two minutes in my kitchen with out getting his ass handed to him.
-
I think he is playing up for the camera and ratings. I am sure he is passionate about his cooking as well.
-
Both, his swearing is a product of his passion towards good producing good quality food. However there's no denying he's rude and offencive, how can you not when someone says your food "tastes like a F*****G dogs dinner!"
-
He is very passionate about his cooking!! I'm just as bad i'm a chef to and it is alot more stressful than people think!! when theres 4 people in the kitchen and you.ve got a full resturant of 300 covers then your bound to get stressed!! and you get and check on every minute!! you run out of space to cook everythink then you get hot and sweaty and get people in your way where your trying to please the customers by getting the food out as quick as you can!! i loose it quite alot but my chefs understand why!! i apoligize b4 service lol
-
i think he's awesome! sometimes he scares the bejesus out of me but lots of the people he screams at deserve it cuz they're bumbling idiots.
-
As a chef, I truly hold him to a new found respect.
-
crude

Gordon Ramsey is likely a very gifted chef and cook. However, TV production methods and big money have made him into a caracature of himself; way over the top. If you want to see a passionate, fiery, yet not ridiculous GR, watch Kitchen Nightmares on the BBC - the show's first incarnation. So much better than the US version.
-
Oh both and I like it!!!
-
Rude, and a typical bully, who can dish it out but can't take it. I also think his constant attempts to prove how macho he is are an attempt to compensate for something.
-
Both! He has too!
-
His cooking does not appear to be as interesting as his mouth. This is just pure attention seeking for rating on his shows. I find the Iron Chefs know a lot more about cooking than him.
-
def passionate!! at the start i thought he was jus an ass, but now that am doin catering in college, i luked into him more and ave now read both his books, and learnt about his tuf life growing up and all the restauarnts and ppl he has wrked for, if u read them u can tel e loves wat e does and the foul mouthin may jus b a bad habbit
-
He does seem to play up to it to sesnsationalise his programmes for an american audience - he is almost like a caricature over there. Here he is less over the top and more himself and his passion shines out of him and he is sexy as hell
-
well, in my honest opinion, I think that he just wants people improve, so that the world of fine dining would be a better place. hehe
-
The only people who think Gordon Ramsay is rude are people who have never worked in a kitchen. I have seen a chef make a grown man cry. It is a business that does not accommodate the normal social pleasantries. The food has to right and right @#$% now.
