  • I can aprtially explain a square baler...It is either powered by a PTO(Power Take Off) shaft from the tractor that is pulling it or by an engine mounted on the baler itself. The Hay is picked up through a feed and a "fork" pushes the hay perpendicularly, to the chamber where it is compacted by the plunger (both are chain or belt driven from the gearbox) then as the hay is being squeezed out of the chamber twine is strung around the "bale" and then tied(very quickly) by the knotters. Sorry its not a very technical account but its hard to explain.
