According to Forbes Magazine:
"They include such products as Hacienda la Esmeralda Geisha from Panama, which made news at the end of May when it set an auction record of $50.25 per pound. Praised for its fruit and floral flavors, it retails for more than $100 per pound. There are also novelty coffees, whose prices are influenced not just by quality, but by the romance or uniqueness of their origins."
"St. Helena coffee, for instance, is a high-quality coffee grown on the remote South Atlantic island to which Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled in 1815. Then there's the Indonesian Kopi Luwak, a coffee that is only roasted after it's been eaten and excreted by a palm civet."

The hot coffee I spilt on my lap and caused me to have a head on wreck with a Mercedes.
The world's most expensive coffee runs over $300.00 a pound and just one cup in a fancy restaurant will set you back $50.00 or more.
This coffee is produced by being eaten by a common palm civet, a mongoose like creature that dwells in tropical forests. The shells of the bean protect it from being digested by the animal and the beans are then collected once the come out the other end of the animal. Only about 500 pound are produced each year. Supposedly the digestion adds a fantastic flavor to the bean and creates a cup of coffee like none other.
I'd give it a try. I don't drink coffee, but I couldn't pass up a $50 cup of joe.

Forbes: The World's Most Expensive Coffee is From Beans Cycled Through an Indonesian Monkey's Digestive System-Truth!
Kopi Luwak does exist, is very expensive, and is made from coffee beans passed through the digestive system of an Indonesian animal, but it's more like a cat than a monkey. According to a feature article by the Manila Coffee House, which sells the stuff, the people who harvest the digested beans don't really have to pick through cat litter to get it. The animal processes the beans and excretes them whole, unscratched, and without dung.
