  • When my brother-in-law had lasic eye surgery, they had a basket on the receptionist's desk for those who wanted to donate their eyeglasses to third world countries. Perhaps you could inquire at one of these clinics to see if they accept similar donations, I imagine relief organizations find these to be a great source for this type of thing and solicit lasic eye surgery clinics all the time, the clinic should certainly be able to point you in the right direction. Or online try here http://www.donateglasses.net/ or here http://www.givethegiftofsight.org/donatenow/ Hope this helps you out!
  • Contact any Lions Club to donate your unwanted eyeglasses. They redistribute them to needy individuals. Don't worry about the prescription lenses, the frames are usually more valuable for reuse. I heard once that LIONS is an acronym for "Light in our nations service".
  • The other answers are excellent and here is another suggestion: both my optometrist's office and my church collect eyeglasses for those in developing countries. Even if all you have is an eyeglass case, donate that because someone, somewhere will get some use out of it. As you can see, all you have to do is ask around and you will find that there are many places where you can share the gift of sight. http://www.hakimoptical.ca/donate.html http://myuminfo.umanitoba.ca/index.asp?sec=40&too=100&eve=8&dat=5/18/2005&npa=8440 http://www.clerc.ca/ http://www.twecs.ca/ And these are just a few of the results of my 'net search.
  • The other answer is quite good. I just wanted to add that Lions Clubs of America have also had improved vision as a major project for more than thirty years. Used eyeglasses can be donated through any member. They also will supply organ donor cards for corneal transplants on request.
  • Almost any eye care provider (Walmart, Pearl Vision, etc) have a place at their facility to drop off your old glasses. I would think that you wouldn't have to be a patient of theirs-you are donating to a good cause!
  • You can donate glasses online when you purchase contact lenses at http://www.replacemycontacts.com Use the same box your contact lenses come in, RMC then pays for the shipping label to stick on the box. Once received, glasses are donated to the Lions Club as well as various international vision care organizations.
  • any opticians have a box where you can donate them they get measured and checked and then sent to the third world for the gift of sight to someone else
  • Your local Lions club.
  • Lots of place. Drop them off at the Salvation army, your eye doctors, or any of a number of other places.
