    In adults, the term colic is usually used to describe a cyclical, cramping abdominal pain most commonly caused by blockage of a muscular lumen (ie the hollow of a tube). The 2 most common are renal colic (caused by kidney stones passing into the ureters between kidney and bladder) and intestinal colic (caused by obstrustion of the large or small intestines for a number of reasons). Colicky pain may also be associated with gallstones
