Millions of animals are slaughtered DAILY in North America, any problem with that?

You have skipped the fact that muslims slaughter these animals and then eat them. If is also best if these slaughtered animals are given to people with no food. I know A TON of Canadians who buy an animal in a very poor place like Bangladesh or Pakistan and have the animal slaughtered there so that the very poor people there get fresh meat.

Unless you are concerned with people eating meat entirely, (and I know there are those people out there), there really is nothing else wrong with this practice.

Not all Muslims do so but other than general issues regarding the killing of animals (I find it morally ambiguous at best, and I do eat meat so yes I am a hypocrite lol) not really. Supposedly this meat is meant to go to the poor so it could be viewed as public good in a way.

I am sure Christmas is not a great time of year if you are a turkey but that doesn't dissuade many people.

There is no command in the Muslim religion to sacrifice animals. It was simply the will of the people to want to kill. In fact, the Qu'ran in many places encouraged the non killing of animals and quite explicitly encouraged a plant-based diet as can be seen below. Consequently there are vegetarian Muslims around the world that do not believe in the idea of having to sacrifice animals in their religion.

Forbidden to you (for food) are: DEAD MEAT, BLOOD, THE FLESH OF SWINE and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah that which hath been
killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a headlong fall or by being gored to death
    ~ Qur’an: The Feast (Al-Ma'edah)

All the creatures on earth, and all the birds that fly with wings, are communities like you To their Lord, all these creatures will be summoned.
    ~ Qur’an: Livestock (Al-An'am)

And by means of this [water] We bring forth for you gardens of date-palms and vines, wherein you have FRUIT ABUNDANT AND WHEREOF YOU EAT as well as a tree that issues from [the lands adjoining]
Mount Sinai, [8] yielding oil and relish for all to eat.
    ~ Qur’ran: The believers (Al-Mu'minun)

The One who made the earth habitable for you, and the sky a structure.
He sends down from the sky water, to produce ALL KINDS OF FRUITS FOR YOUR SUSTENANCE.
    ~ Qur’an: The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

We grow in it gardens of date palms, and grapes, and we cause springs to gush out therein.
This is to provide them with fruits, and to let them manufacture with their own hands whatever they need.
    ~ Qur’an:Y.S. (Ya Sin)

You will have in it ALL KINDS OF FRUITS, FROM WHICH YOU EAT.
    ~ Qur’an: Ornaments (Al-Zukhruf)

And we sent from the sky blessed water, to grow with it gardens and grains to be harvested.
Tall date palms, with clustered fruit. Provisions for the people.
    ~ Qur’an: Q. (Qaf)

ALLAH WILL NOT GIVE MERCY TO ANYONE, EXCEPT THOSE WHO GIVE MERCY TO OTHER CREATURES. Where there is an abundance of vegetables, a host of angels will descend on that place.
    ~ Prophet Mohammed, Hadith

At one time THE RASUL (Prophet)OF ALLAH SAID TO HIS COUSIN
‘ALI, "O ‘ALI, YOU SHOULD NOT EAT MEAT.
If you eat meat for forty days, those qualities will come within you.
Those actions will come within you.
Their blood will come within you.
Their qualities and their actions will come within you.
Because of that, your human qualities will change, your compassionate qualities will change, the essence of your body will change.
O ‘Ali, you should not eat meat or flesh.
    You have to diminish that.
    Do not eat that.
~ Muhammad Raheem Bawa Muhaiyaddeen, Islamic Sufi saint

  • And Americans slaughter animals all throughout the year. So compared to that, I don't find the Muslim customs in question particularly problematic.

Not as long as they eat them.

God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them: "Be fertile and multiply and fill the earth. Dread fear of you shall come upon all the animals of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon all the creatures that move about on the ground and all the fishes of the sea; into your power they are delivered. Every creature that is alive shall be yours to eat; I give them all to you as I did the green plants. (Genesis 9:1-3)

    The Catholic Church teaches:

    • It is a sin to cause animals to suffer or die needlessly.

    • It is not a sin to kill animals with as little suffering as possible for food, clothing, and the health and safety of humans.

    • Medical and scientific experimentation on animals is a morally acceptable practice if it remains within reasonable limits and contributes to caring for or saving of human lives.

For more information, see Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2415-2418 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art7.shtml#2415

    With love in Christ.

For people who said we slaughter animals, we don't do this as a sacrifice to God and not all of us do it. You guys gather around and celebrate public execution of innocent animals.
