Why do they encourage us to shred all of our papers but then they don't let us put this shredded paper in the recycle bins?

There's just no keeping these recyclers happy, is there? lol! Thanks.

Well, I know that. I"m just saying that we are encouraged for our safety to shred but then it seems some locales won't accept this 'safer' material. All of a sudden now I'm left with trash. I may just go back to burning it myself. I got no answers when I called up. They wouldn't tell my my or where the stuff goes.

Hmm. Now that's an idea! I can find out where they take their paper and ask them. But I wonder if my recycler would take them anyway if I insisted? I'll give it a try:-)

Most places around here don't want it. It has to be flat paper:-( So what's with that? Makes no sense. So what do we do? Maybe it's a New York thing because they really are NOT into recycling and being careful here at all. No one is encouraged to do it. It's all up to the individual. At the markets they place each item in a separate plastic bag if you let them, not like SF or LA whee they are close to making you pay for the bags because they clog up the landfills.

Well, our recyling circular says nothing about shredded paper being excluded..it says nothing about shredded paper in any context..so perhaps each locality has its own requirements! :)

I'm thinking that's the case. We must hve the lazy recyclers, the ones who want nice crisp sheets of newsprint. Oh well, I'll carry on somehow:-) And HI! It's still been a nice week. We're going into town to be with Margie today. We'll see how she's doing. So far so good:-)
