I actually went to the Bartending College of Milwaukee, and they do teach you the way to make many proper drinks and cocktails for $300. This is best for someone who wants to work in an upscale restaurant or bar. It was pretty fun, and mostly consisted of drills in making drinks the fastest, and lots of memorization! However, I do not think it is necessary to attend a "college" to learn. Some counties require you to take a short course in local liquor laws, take a test on it, and purchase a license. It is best to start at a local bar during slow hours and learn the tricks of the trade there, they will also inform you of what exactly you need to acquire a license if needed.
