Help answer this question below.
hey im sarah,
im apostolic and we believe that there is only one god which is jesus christ. we believe that in order to be filled with God's spirit you have to repent of your sins,be baptised in the named of Jesus Christ not 3 different names or under any other name and speak in tongues. i have bible scriptures for ANY question that u have.and if your really interested ill explain to u why we do certain things that we do, and why we dont do certain things also. my email is ss_69camaro@yahoo.com
I often wonder why mankind insist on putting God into a box. God is not so narrow minded that a soul would be lost because of symantics. In Mark 9 starting at verse 38 Jesus had a discussion with his deciples about seperatism 38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. 39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. 40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
One thing we fail to realize is that Jeus is not coming back for a religion. He is coming back for His church. That church without a spot or a wrinkle. That church where His Gospel has been preached in fullness. You cannot have Jesus without the Father and the Holy Spirit. I believe that the Apostolic Faith that preach oneness is being very narrow minded in their interpetation of God's word and I find it dangerous when we start determining who will make it in and who will not. I also would like to say that Idon't believe that any religion is100% right in their doctrine. I say this because religion is man made where they base their doctrine on their interpretation of a scripture; or what they beieve God has revealed or spoken to them. We cannot exclude any scripture in our christian walk. We must do as 2 Timothy 2:15 says; Study so that we know what is the truth. God is not concern about your Denomination; He is concerned with wheather or not you have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. And please can anyone tell me where JESUS said that a person must speak in tongues to be saved or filled with the Holy Spirit? I always consider these to be Gifts that God gave according to His grace.
In Christianity, the doctrine of Apostolic Succession (or the belief that the Church is 'apostolic') maintains that the Christian Church today is the spiritual successor to the original body of believers in Christ, composed of the Apostles. Virtually all Christian denominations consider Apostolic Succession important in some fashion, although their definitions of the concept may vary.
This really is an inaccurate question. The word Apostolic means "Apostle like". One who is an Apostolic does not follow a "religion", but rather the Bible in the fullest. When someone says that they are Apostolic, they should say that they follow in the Apostle's doctrine. There is a second part to the question that has not been addressed, what is a Pentecostal? This is not a religion, but an experience of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. This coupled with the Apostle's doctrine, brings someone to the ultimate experience of being called a Christian. If you remember, in Acts, they said that they were first called Christians at Antioch. Why? Because they experienced Pentecost, (the 50th day from Passover when the Holy Ghost was poured out. This was what Jesus said to the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for, the promise of the Father). Then they followed in the Apostle's doctrine, (this is what they were taught of Jesus for 3 1/2 years. How to live right, treat people right, learn the truth about God and connect the hearts of men back to the creator). I am sorry I have rambled for so long, but I will leave you with this -- "Search the scriptures, for in them ye think we have life. And they are they which testify of me." It's all in what you put your faith in. If you believe the Bible as the only God-inspired book, the passage of scripture which I just quoted will move your heart to dig deeper.
Reply: to marielove,
Sarah is a christian,( she sounds like she loves God). Thats all that matters. Its better for her to be here sitting on the computer giving biblical advice then out drinking etc... Leave her alone let her believe what she wants. She is doing what God wants.. spreading the word. And I dont care if you think it is biblical or not. Go bash one of these people on here that talks about drugs and sex and how they wished they could kill someone. Leave Gods people alone
Alright, I'm going to try to make this short and sweet. I go to an Apostolic Church in Illinois. My beliefs and the beliefs in my church are not the same as other Apostolic churches...I'll explain. The United Pentecostal Church, The Reformed Apostolic Church, and my church..we all don't have the same beliefs. The UPC constantly changes their doctrine while ours always remains the same. We believe fully in the Bible, we believe in The Remission of Sins,Baptizism in Spirt& in Truth, Recieving the Holy Ghost(speaking in tongues), the power of prayer, and other things of coarse. We also do not take part in wordly things. . we don't watch TV, or movies, We don't play video games that have certain things in them, We don't smoke, drink, swear, steal, lie, sleep with anyone but the one we became one with. ... and many other things. The way we dress (as in legnth of skirts & sleeves) are different in every church. We have rules for our safety that other churches don't have. We all believe the same God, but have different rules set up. I do believe there is a wrong way & a right way to praise the Lord. I'm not sure how deep I should go on here. but if you have other questions for me my e-mail is : phelpsie101@gmail.com do not come e-mail me with insults or anything of that sort. I will not respond.
This may be a silly question, but are you asking about a specific religion called “the apostolic religion,” or are you asking which religion is Apostolic? The interpretation will have a pretty big effect on the way some people answer.
your right, everyone has the right to believe what they want.you know God said everyone would not find it.why would he say that.because it's not for everyone.when your not taking up, what are you going to say then.i pray that u find the truth, the bible says a way that seems right to a man leads to Death...
Its not a religion... its a lifestyle...I say if you love God with everything with in you you will search the bible inside and out...not using only one scripture but all of them...when you find it then live it to the best of your ability...if you mess up God forgives...you repent and move on...I'm an Apostolic and I believe in the bible...I love the people in my church to death but I don't believe in it because they do..I believe in it as well...with all my heart...God is amazing and thats all that matters...and if you want to know answers to all your questions about why we dress the way we do..and our beliefs..then find an Apostolic church and visit...find out for yourself...in person..not just from the internet...don't just take my word for it...go and find out for yourself...if you want to find God then take steps towards him and he'll take steps toward you...God Bless!
This question is for an apostolic believer....
Once you have been baptized into a church and you become a faithful member to that church....would you be in rebellion against God if you had to move to a different state and attend a different church and be under a different pastor? Or what are your thoughts about the pastor saying that no, you can't go but you leave anyway because of life changes. Would you be in rebellion against God if that were the case?
2 John 1:9 whosoever trangresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto to you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed
Apostolic religion--No the Apostolic faith, in which came by the Apostolic doctrine that is "THE BIBLE" It's written in "THE BIBLE". Please don't get mad at the world when they say, "O there goes another religion" Sorry my friend, us Pentecostal Apostolic's been here since Jesus first went up.
One Lord One Faith One Baptizm.
And for those who say they can't trust what they call, "organized religion"
Put it like this, A saint (what some call a christian, I don't) is a sheep.
Now sheep stay with a herd, and the herd is fed by a Shepherd. That Shepherd is Jesus & The Preacher (they are a Team). AND SHEEP STAY WITH THE HERD. why? try NATURALLY separating a sheep from the herd(And A Shepherd). A Wolf will come Snatching up that sheep instantly. But A Shepherd keeps the wolves from the sheep. Aint that Great?
Thats my say, Apostolic Faith. Some have real preachers, and some DON"T .. And it's not always so obvious.. I wouldn't be a saint if I said they were all of God.
SO PLEASE, SEARCH CAREFULLY
In Jesus name...

Is a great article covering from the Bible the topic of alcohol and the Christian. Also covers whether Jesus drank alcoholic wine or not.
Ok So I have a question and it may sound stupid but I would like to know is there a big difference between apostolic and Pentecostal? And if so are they big difference s or little ones like not. Cutting your hair or not wearing jeans Just curious
God is the way but if you don"t get the right teaching you will never know who God is. God is holy so if you know God you are holy,God has a good heart so if you know God you have a good heart. A good heart will lead you to know the true gospel. Jesus is the truth and to know the truth you have to obey Jesus commands which he said get baptize in the name of the father, son, holyspirit, what is the answer to Jesus question. If you know you are following the truth and doing Gods will. I believe you apostolics, pentecostals are in the right path. God bless, may Jesus touch all of you. Amen
Hello, this is for all to read. I attend a evengelical church cle,Oh. this I know to be the truth according to scripture.JOHN 14:6 Jesus told him " I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.[JESUS]. 2 trinity scripture ref. Mk1:10-11.Acts1:4-5. God Bless.
The Catholic Church is apostolic because she is founded on the apostles, in three ways:
• She was and remains built on the foundation of the Apostles, the witnesses chosen and sent on mission by Christ himself;
• With the help of the Holy Spirit dwelling in her, the Church keeps and hands on the teaching, the words she has heard from the apostles;
• She continues to be taught, sanctified, and guided by the apostles until Christ's return, through their successors, the college of bishops, in union with the successor of Simon Peter, the Church's supreme pastor, the Pope.

You're reading What is the apostolic religion? What are their beliefs?

These are the EXACT WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST himself to say that you only baptize in the name of Jesus is ridiclious.. Please don't bother showing me the scripture where in ACTS I know that one.. As far as I am concerned it is your heart not your baptism that GOd looks at..
MATT 28:18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of THE SON and of THE HOLY SPIRIT, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Chill marielove, the question asked what she believes and she answered. She's not trying to convert you, so show her the same respect.
by mysticdeliria on August 15th, 2008
look what you just put the scripture says in the name of! just one name that describes all three. Isiah 9:6 says Unto us a child is born and his name shall be called wonderful consular EVERLASTING FATHER. That's not word for word but Jesus is the everlasting Father. Just think of it this way if you have a child you're a father plus you have parents which means you're a son and finally we all have spirits but you can't just use any name. Acts 4:12 says Jesus is the only name given among men where by we must be saved. ephesians 4:5 says One Lord one Faith one baptism. The apostles baptized in either the name of jesus or the lord jesus christ. You can not baptize in the titles titles mean nothing. Sarah you are very right explaining the Apostolic Doctorine. What church do you go to? I go to Heritage Apostolic : )

I hesitate to comment because I do not want to debate. The question was, "What is the apostolic religion? What are their beliefs?" Apostolic's, the largest being the United Pentecostal Church (not affliated with Pentecostals, other than the name), believe exactly what ss camaro stated. They are under a legalistic doctrine that adds to salvation by not only the words said over your baptism, but also that you must speak in tongues to show that you're saved (that's another topic that is not scriptural). This among other doctrines that they cling to, picking and choosing which ones must be obeyed by their tribe. They will tell you that you 'just got wet' if you were baptised any other way. Your baptism isn't valid, etc. When Jesus stated in Matt. 28:19 'in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit' the phrase 'in the name' means in the 'authority'.
in the name of, (dictionary.com)
a. with appeal to: In the name of mercy, stop that screaming!
b. by the authority of: Open, in the name of the law!
c. on behalf of: to purchase something in the name of another.
d. under the name or possession of: money deposited in the name of a son.
e. under the designation or excuse of: murder in the name of justice.
There were other baptisms at the time. Baptism of Moses; baptism as a Jew; baptism of John the Baptist, etc. What Jesus was trying to convey, although not a formula, was that we are baptised in the 'authority' of God almighty, no one else, through Jesus Christ the Son, giving glory to the Father. I believe that you should confess Jesus as your savior before or during baptism, but you are not saved by the words of someone else speaking over your baptism. Whether Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, or in the name of Jesus... it is your heart that God knows, not the words of another speaking over you. That's bordering on Catholicism where a priest becomes your mediator. I'll leave it at that. If you'd TRULY like more information on the subject please visit christianchallenge.org or spiritualabuse.org as they have wonderful information and the scriptures to back it up.

You all are right Matt28:19 does say to baptize in the Farther, the Son,and the Holy Ghost. Nonetheless this was when Jesus walked the earth. In Matt 16:19 says and I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven; Jesus is talking to Peter. Now when we turn to Acts 2:38 we read that Peter(the one Jesus gave the keys to) said to baptize in the name of the Jesus Christ.
This is what Jesus commands after His death, burial, and resurrection. For the sake of clarity can anyone give us a supporting scripture where after He resurrected He said to baptize in the Farther the Son and the Holy Ghost?.
The American Heritage College dictionary defines authority as the power to enforce laws; whats that Name again? P.S.I am aware that Peter was a disciple then apostle after Jesus resurrected.

John 3:1-8
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night, and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with Him." Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, "You must be born again." the wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from or where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." Nicodemus answered, "how can these things be?!" Jesus answered and said to Him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and you do not understand these things?"

Sarah, I'm not trying to be an asshole when I say this but am saying so in an inquisitive manner. What about "Mathew 28:19"?

Can you explaine for me the following please:
1 Cor 8.6: There is only one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
The bible was so clear that the father is God but you don't agree
Luke 3.21-22 records that Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit were all three present at the same event, at one and the same time. The event was the Baptism of Jesus....
Jesus was in the Jordan River, being baptized.
The Holy Spirit was descending upon Jesus.
The Father was speaking from Heaven.
This makes it clear that Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three distinct persons.
Sarah, are you saying Jesus wasn't baptise correctly.
John 14.16-17 further records Jesus's promise that He would ask the Father to give us the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is distinct from both the Father and Jesus
Sarah, do you interprete this verse as Jesus promise that he would ask Jesus to give us Jesus.
You problably have difference verse to justify your statement but can you explain what Jesus meant on the three verse
by ccieandrew on November 21st, 2010
John 3:1-8 says nothing of speaking in tongues. This verse is used frequently by UPC and others to try and prove something... that's just not in this verse. Acts 2:38 is the main verse that they base all of their religion on. Some UPC and others actually add to the end of the verse... "as evidenced by speaking in tongues". Funny that some of those people, without checking their bibles, actually believe that's what the verse says. It is not. There isn't one verse in the bible that states you must speak in tongues for salvation, or that you must wear long skirts, and not cut your hair, and not wear makeup, or that men can't have beards, etc, etc... You can't pick and choose, or add to scripture to fit a doctrine. The ONLY way to be saved is faith and belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and by his sacrifice we have the opportunity to spend eternity in the presence of God.

Tongues are a language of angels. Its another way to communicate to God. Lets take all our UPC vs any other organization vs the world out of all this and just use the Bible. I left some scriptures on tongues below.
Mark 16:17 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;”
Acts 2:3-4 “And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
”Acts 2:8 “And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?”
Acts 2:11 “Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.”
Acts 10:46 “For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,”1 Corinthians 14:2 “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”

I still am not convinced that tongues are a gift for today, And if it is still a gift, then churches are using it incorrectly. They are not following the instructions given in 1 Cor, and they, like the church in Corinth should be corrected.
Mark 16:17 was not in the original manuscripts. However, even if it is added, we must note that not everyone that speaks in tongues will cast out demons, or those that cast out demons may not speak in tongues, etc. The gifts are given according to the Holy Spirit. We don't pick and choose which gifts are given. Not all will speak in tongues, not all will interpret, not all will prophesy, not all will teach, etc.
The tongues that were spoken in Acts were actual languages, not gibberish. There was no interpretation required for the hearers. Those that would use verses and say, see... they spoke in tongues when they were saved, so... for you to be saved you must speak in tongues- are not getting the big pictures. Usually the speaking in tongues was combined with another gift. However, there are many verses that mention the 3000 saved, the 5000 saved with no mention of tongues whatsoever. In addition, Romans tells us that we are saved when we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that Jesus Christ is Lord. No mention of tongues whatsoever.
