I'm moving to Perth from Sydney and want freight my things over by train. I can't seem to find a company that will do it. Does anyone know one?

Hi there, we are also doing the big move from Sydney to Perth this year. I am currently waiting on a quote from a company that does 'do it yourself shipping container moves' - see, www.dialabox.com.au
They drop off a container at your place, you load it, they pick it up again and place it on a train to Perth, when it arrives they collect it again and take it to your new address for you to unload then they take the container away. Would love to know how you go or swap info and ideas with you. Are you also driving there?

I really don't know why you want to send your items by train, however that is your choice. If there is a train service from Sydney to Perth, I would say, that it carries passengers only and no freight. I would suggest maybe, that you could rail it to Melbourne, then rail it to S.A then perhaps rail it to W.A. I know when my bro-inlaw was thinking moving from Melbourne to Brissy, I found a company that could supply a shipping container, where you could place your car and whatever else to fill it and rail it up here.
