Yes, definitely. I have a feeling that the staff is trying to add this feature. We've all talked about it for a while now.

I see what you mean, and this has gone for debate for many months and months for now. It's has already been requested and asked for a duplicate answer by the same person. However, the flag is too complicated to follow, and it was hard already to keep up with the flag. I'm not sure if they might continue the project. But for now, just leave them alone for now. Sometimes, the user may asked for the answer to be removed because of a duplicate. The flags will be accepeted as a substitute for a duplicate.

If there were something that told you that you had already answered a question then, yes, I would agree with you...but some questions have 1000 answers...I don't want to go through the list each time to make certain that I haven't answered it before...that takes way too long...and at level 65 or wherever I am..you have already answered a lot of questions.

I've got such a guilty conscience! Whenever I see questions like this, I think "Is it me?"! But I am forgetful... If I do answer a question in a similar or the same way, I try to flag it up as such in the answer, to avoid confusion for one thing.

We've talked about it for months but there isn't an easy way to make sure that only exact doubles by the same person is what is flagged. It would be too easy for people to just flag each answer that is the same. For instance if someone said Who would Win? Joe or Fred, and 12 people answered, they all could be flagged as dupes of each other that said the same thing. How do you separate those kinds of flags? You can't write a huge description and instructions for each flag. It's safer to let it stay this way compared to the havoc the other would bring on. You think people moan about flagging now? LOL!!!

What would be the purpose? I have accidentally posted the same answer twice. I finally realized I was hitting the back button then hitting the enter button. Took me a while to realize what I was doing and have caught myself once or twice almost doing it again. When I see dup answers I assume they have done the same.

1) If I am aware that I did this, I replace the text with a ";" and add a comment: "Please falg as nonsense!" If I find aout that someone made it, I comment one of the answers with "duplicate answer!" and flag it as nonsense. I suppose that the staff gets the message. 2) As the duplicate flagging by questions is already very controversial, I don't think a duplicate flagging by answers would be a good thing. For instance, how would you explain that the concept of duplicate would be different for questions and for answers? (same answer by the same person) And if we consider answers as duplicate, if they give the same result, but one of them gives more details or uses other references, it would just delete some possibly interesting information.
